A Legacy for Tewkesbury Abbey
Tewkesbury Abbey has been a centre for Christian worship and witness for 900 years and is one of the finest and largest medieval churches in Great Britain. With its long and fascinating history, it is of national and international significance.
Today it continues to uphold its original Benedictine tradition of hospitality which offers a welcome to all.
Our aim is to preserve the Abbey and its heritage as an historic building, a centre of excellence for music and a spiritual centre, in the best possible condition for future generations.
We simply cannot do this without your generosity.
A gift in your will is a way in which you can help us do this.
Gifts may be given in support of a particular part of the Abbey’s work or simply as an unrestricted gift.
It is difficult to know what the needs and priorities will be in years to come, so if you leave an unrestricted gift, it provides the flexibility to direct your legacy to wherever the need is greatest.
Currently all charitable legacies are free from inheritance tax. Furthermore, if you choose to leave 10% or more of your chargeable net estate to Tewkesbury Abbey, the inheritance tax rate on the whole estate is reduced.
Whatever you do, we advise you to take legal advice to ensure your wishes are accurately reflected.
You can choose whether to leave a Gift in your will to either or both of:
